Our solar pool heating system can be easily combined with domestic hot water and space heating. The final important factor of high efficiency is the fact that our solar panels do not take up a lot of roof space and thus less surface area is required to heat a pool. Our high efficiency solar pool heating system works via a closed loop. The pool water is heated in a heat exchanger which is heated by the solar collectors. This system is better for the life span of the collector since salted or chlorinated pool water is corrosive to metal parts inside the collectors. The closed loop solar pool heating system is designed to work with the existing pool circulation system where pool water is diverted into a heat exchanger which is heated by the solar collectors with non-toxic (food grade) propylene glycol. A solar station is used to pump the glycol from the solar collectors to the heat exchanger when the pool temperature is below the desired. Once the water in the pool is heated to the desired temperature the heating process is ceased. When the sun has set and there isn't sufficient energy to heat the pool the circulating pump in the solar station stops.
This system is completely automated and can be set to heat-up water to any desired temperature. Once the controller senses that the desired temperature has been achieved it stops heating the water to save energy.
While there are various types of solar pool heaters on the market, not all are very efficient. Efficiency depends on how well a pool is heated using a finite number of panels and surface area. In other words, how much of a roof space and material is required to heat the pool to the desired temperature. Our evacuated tube panels are made up of double wall evacuated tubes with heat pipe technology which are not affected by cold ambient temperatures. This technology allows the panels to reach very high temperatures (greater than 90 degrees C) even in -35 degrees C weather.
